How to get away with any annoying situation only with Harry Potter quotes

Just a handy guide to awkwardly get away with feeling awkward, when life happens.

Your best friend who is convinced she can still fit in her High School clothes asks you if this skirt shows her rolls and if she’s fat. We live in such a violent society… Why do rolls have to be so looked down on? Why do we have to define ourselves by fat/skinny/thin? Just use the quote:

You’re a wizard, Harry. Hagrid

It’s your aunt Roberta, or your friend Laurel, or whoever has a slight tendency to self-pity and has been going on and on about that terrible situation of hers that would make the Third World laugh to asphyxia. There is no real solution than to suck it up for Roberta or Laurel, you know it and they know it to some extent. So let’s switch the subject of the conversation with this simple one:

But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. Dumbledore

In the middle of a very, very dramatic scene. Whether you are making a scene and realize it has no point and it’s ridiculous, or someone else is being ridiculous. Both ways, just end it on a dignified note.

We could all have been killed or worse expelled. Hermione.

You went out last night. And, let’s put it mildly, you had too much Kool-Aid. The excess of sugar brought you in situations your friends are way too happy to recount the following day. Go philosophical with this Dumbledore nugget:

We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matter is the part we choose to act on? That’s who we really are.

Now that’s your friends turn to be completely high on Kool-Aid at a PJ party, and you try to control her but she fights back! She asks why you’re being so obsessed with her since she’s “doing so good” and she’s “totally fine”. In this case just prove how of a good friend you are, using Lupin’s wisdom:

It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.

Brenda, Lauren, Carol, whatever her name is when she introduces herself to the manager, and you’re the manager.

Have a biscuit, Potter. Lupin

There you are, you said it. THE thing you were not supposed to say, the thing that is going to make that particular person uncomfortable or offended. For example, you’ve just broken the news, Santa doesn’t exist! And your nephew is now crying louder than a professional mourner. In that case, you have no other choice than accepting your faith and taking pride in it:

Mischief Managed

And finally, because it happens and that’s what makes us balanced human beings. There is always a moment of the month/week/year, we need to cry our eyes out to dehydration. But some stupid Mr. Obvious is going to ask “why”. Justify it by the burden of knowing the pain and deep love of Snape, the pure and unmoderated devotion he shows. WHY DID SHE CHOOSE JAMES? WHY????

“After all this time?”

“Always,” said Snape
